Warranty

We're thrilled that you've chosen Timber & Hutch handcrafted, solid wood exterior doors for your home! We're confident in the quality of our products, and to put your mind at ease, we're happy to offer you a limited warranty with the following details:

  1. Warranty Coverage: Each exterior door comes with a 1-year limited warranty. This warranty is non-transferable and exclusively covers any defects in material or workmanship.
  2. Freight Damage: If there's any damage during the shipping process, make sure to note it upon receiving the door, so we can get you a replacement. We can’t be responsible for freight damage that’s not noted properly upon your inspection and delivery by the freight carrier.
  3. Installation by the Pros: To be eligible for the warranty, your door must be installed by a licensed, qualified professional. Proper installation is crucial for safety. All hardware must be properly installed. We can’t be responsible for damage done by anyone installing or modifying your door.
  4. Watch Out for Storm Doors: Using a storm door can lead to excess heat being trapped between the wood door and the storm door. This can cause warping and cracking. So, we strongly advise against using storm doors as it would void the warranty.
  5. Say No to Dark Opaque Colors: Painting your door black or using any other dark opaque colors will also void the warranty. These colors absorb too much heat and UV rays, which can damage the wood components.
  6. Acts of Nature: Unfortunately, we can't cover damages caused by events beyond our control, such as fires, floods, earthquakes, or other acts of nature.
  7. Cosmetic Considerations: Some natural variations are part of the beauty of our real wood doors. The warranty doesn't cover knots, natural color, texture, density variances, color tone variation, or lifted grain. Superficial surface checks up to 3/64" in width are also considered within acceptable limits.
  8. Climate Effects: Normal contraction and expansion due to weather conditions are not covered. Please note that "warp" refers to variations within the door itself, not its alignment with the frame or jamb. We follow the allowable tolerance standards, with a maximum tolerance of 1/4" in any 36" x 80" section.
  9. Modification: If the door is modified beyond its intended use, the warranty becomes void, so don’t get crazy.
  10. Maintenance: Since we won’t be there, it’s your job to properly maintain your door, doors that are neglected aren’t covered by our warranty.
  11. Finishing Touches: For doors ordered unfinished, it's important to seal or paint them within 5 days of delivery. If you don't, the warranty will be void. Ensure that all sides of the door are properly sealed with a high-quality sealer. Additionally, make sure the door has sufficient overhang protection to shield it from the elements.
  12. Door Storage: We can’t cover damage or warp to doors that aren’t properly stored before installation.
  13. Glass Panels: Any glass in your door is warranted for 3 years from the date of delivery against defects in manufacture and excessive discoloration. This warranty does not cover any damage, so keep the baseball throwing to a minimum. It also doesn’t cover any damage or loss caused by harmful chemical action, abrasive cleaners, or breakdowns due to environmental conditions
  14. Proper Overhang: For warranty coverage, it’s essential your door has a proper overhang to protect it from the elements. If you don’t have a sufficient overhang protecting your door, your wood door will weather poorly. The overhang necessary depends on a variety of factors, such as the location of the door, the direction the door is facing, and the climate in which it is installed. As a general guideline, we recommend a minimum of 3 feet of overhang protection above their exterior door to prevent exposure to direct sunlight, rain, snow, and other elements that can cause damage to the door. However, it is important to note that the exact amount of overhang needed may vary based on factors specific to your situation, and we encourage customers to consult with a qualified local professional to determine the appropriate amount of overhang protection for your wood door.
  15. Exclusions: Finishes, whether applied by us or the original owner, are not covered by the warranty.
  16. Free-floating Door Panels: Our door panels are designed to shift and expand in different climates, as we ship them across 48 states. This prevents the wood from cracking. It also means your panels may not stay perfectly centered and unfinished edges may become exposed if the panel contracts excessively.
  17. Acceptance of Warranty: By making the purchase, you accept this warranty as the official one. Any other representation, warranty, or condition, whether written or implied, is excluded unless stated in writing by an authorized company agent.
  18. Filing a Claim: If you discover any defects covered by the warranty, please submit a written claim to sales@timberandhutch.com, subject line “Warranty Claim” within 30 days. Make sure to file the claim within the warranty period to ensure its validity.
  19. Repair or Replacement: In case your door has any defects, we'll take care of it. We'll either repair it or replace it, free of charge. We'll make the call on which option is best.
  20. Limits: Warranty claims don’t cover any de-installation or installation and labor charges related to the replacement product, any finish or refinish charges in the event the original door has been painted for or by the client, and any cost that the user may incur in exercising this warranty.
